THE “UNKNOWN CASUALTY” DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS
(1944) Bomber Command “Casualty” Aircrew Europe, Group of Six.
Dedicated to all the brave young RAF lads of World War Two.

We have dedicated this unattributed 1944 DFC, Aircrew Europe & Africa group of six to the many thousands of brave young lads who fought high in the black and lethally dangerous enemy skies over occupied Europe during the RAF Bomber Command offensive of World War II.

The year 1944, marked the climax of the air war against Germany with what became known by the crews as “maximum effort” being delivered almost every night for month after relentless month.

THE “UNKNOWN CASUALTY” DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS
(1944) Bomber Command “Casualty” Aircrew Europe, Group of Six.
Dedicated to all the brave young RAF lads of World War Two. The gallant young Aircrew Europe lads of Bomber Command who’s average age was only about 20 flew and died in their thousands, undaunted in the defence of our liberty so that we might live our lives in peace and freedom.

This DFC is totally gem mint state and is still housed in its original lettered Royal Mint velvet & silk lined case. The strike quality of this particular medal is quite exceptional as it displays the rare & seldom seen proof-like mirror quality and fully reflective reverse surfaces.
