[BIOGRAPHY]
Ordinary Seaman Samuel Parratt who was born in London, c, 1791, joined HMS TERPSICHORE (32) Capt, W.A. Montague in October 1807. On 15th March 1808 TERPSICHORE was involved in the defeat of the French Frigate SEMILLANTE (38) after a chase lasting 5 days during which both ships were severely damaged.

A Rare & Exceptional TWO CLASP Naval General Service Medal (1848) PELAGOSA 29 NOVr 1811 (74) & LISSA (124) 
To: SAMUEL PARRATT, HMS ACTIVE & HMS BRITON. On 29th July 1809 Parratt joined HMS ACTIVE (38) a frigate in which he was involved with HM Ships AMPHION (32), CERBERUS (32) and VOLAGE (22) in the capture, the two 40 gunned frigates BELLONA & CORONA, and the destruction of the 40 gunned frigate FAVORITE on 13th March 1811 (CLASP LISSA)

On 29th November 1811 along with HM Ships ALCESTE and UNITE they captured the 40 gun POMONE & 26 gun frigate PERSANNE of the island of PELAGOSA. (CLASP)


In 1812 Parratt joined the 38 Gun HMS BRITON, on 11th March the BRITON with HMS ANDROMACHE captured the American Brig LEADER and on 15th the French privateer SANS SOUCI (14),on the 17th & 20th of March they captured the American Brigs COLUMBIA and EXPECTATION. In January she was involved in the capture of the BRUTUS and in July she captured the MERLARICE. In December she was part of a convoy of 49 merchantmen.
