Previously a farmer, George joined the army age 29 in about 1854/5. Took part in the Indian Mutiny Campain. He entered the Army reserve in 1865 and later served in India on the North West Frontier. Discharged 4th February 1887.
Includes attestation paperwork and roll confirmation of entitlement to both medals.

Clearly George lost his original Mutiny medal and had a private replacement produced.Both medals on their original cloth ribbons.
