A scarce award for Palestine, the 16th Yeomanry Bn Royal Sussex Regt were formed in Mersa Matruh, Egypt on 3 January 1917 from dismounted Sussex Yeomanry. January 1917: attached to 230th Brigade in 74th (Yeomanry) Division. Landed at Marseilles 7 May 1918.
