METEOR (Mk,8) CONTROL GRIP (Rare) 1960´s Spare.

A (Very Rare) 1960's Spare part in 'unused' condition.

This is a fine example of a now unobtainable 'mint' control column grip from a Mk8 Gloster Meteor Jet Fighter. This was given to me many years ago by the Chief Engineer at RAF Woodvale, which was then the home of No.8 C.A.A.C.U (Civilian Anti-Aircraft Co-Operation Unit) which in the mid-1960's operated six Mk8's and a T. Mk7 Trainer, all of which regularly flew on Army Radar Gunnery Training Operations to far away places in The Scottish Islands like Benbecual and Macrihanish. This was a gift on the occassion of my first ever RAF jet aircraft flight in the "Two Seater" Meteor T.Mk7 trainer 'WF791' all of which were operated by Airwork Services of Bournemouth. (Hurn) This aircraft (WF791), which was later a member of the R.A.F's Vintage display team sadly crashed killing the pilot at a midlands airshow some years ago.

The Gun Trigger can be "snapped" into SAFE or FIRE with the flick of a finger and the sliding panel can be operated to cover or uncover the bomb release button.
